Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has committed to ongoing infrastructure development as he unveiled a network of roads in Badagry Local Government Area and Olorunda Local Council Development Area. The event took place on Wednesday, where he expressed gratitude to the residents for their support during the last local government election.
During his address, Sanwo-Olu praised the community for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. He acknowledged the challenges that come with large-scale infrastructure projects, such as temporary disruptions, and highlighted the importance of community support in overcoming these obstacles.
The governor emphasized that improved infrastructure is key to enhancing trade, stimulating the tourism sector, and opening up remote areas. He stated, “We are convinced that infrastructural development remains the foundation for a vibrant tourism sector.” He reiterated the administration’s goal of ensuring that all areas of Lagos benefit from development, whether through roads, drainage systems, or other essential amenities.
Among the roads inaugurated were Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Road and Hospital Road, both designed to improve connectivity and support tourism around local landmarks like the General Hospital and the Agiya Tree Monument. Sanwo-Olu noted that Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Road offers an alternative route to a section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, enhancing interconnectivity among Badagry communities. Hospital Road, in close proximity to Badagry Marina, serves as a critical link for water transportation.
Sanwo-Olu urged residents to protect the new infrastructure for future generations, stressing the importance of community stewardship in maintaining the facilities.
