Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that Abuja will compete with major world cities before President Bola Tinubu’s first term concludes in 2027. Wike made this assurance while flagging off the construction of Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) from Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Airport Expressway.
Wike stated that the development of Abuja aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured that no sector in the FCT would be left untouched under his leadership. Wike emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda is changing the narrative, and Abuja residents can expect significant improvements.
He highlighted that the administration is prioritizing infrastructure development to meet residents’ expectations. Wike mentioned that the government is committed to completing key infrastructure projects across Abuja before the end of President Tinubu’s first term. These projects are fully funded to ensure timely completion and avoid abandonment.
Several projects are already in progress as part of this transformation, including the construction of Arterial Road N20, the full scope development of Arterial Road N1, and the construction of the Northern Parkway. Additional initiatives include the second Abuja airport runway and engineering infrastructure in various districts.
Wike addressed concerns about focusing mainly on roads, emphasizing that infrastructure is the foundation of development. He assured that every sector would receive the necessary attention, including the health sector.
With these projects and initiatives, Wike aims to transform Abuja into a city that can compete with the best in the world by 2027.
