Diaspora investors in Winhomes Estate, Lekki, have challenged statements made by Minister of Works David Umahi regarding the demolition of properties along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway corridor. During a recent inspection, Umahi asserted that only about four hectares of Winhomes Estate land were affected and declared the matter closed, citing the Lagos State government’s revocation of the land and a favorable court ruling.

Umahi questioned the existence of evidence supporting the claimed $250 million investment, urging transparency about who financed it and through which bank. In response, Engr. Stella Okengwu, CEO of Winhomes Global Services Ltd., stated that their investment exceeds this figure and called for adherence to legal processes.

The dispute is currently under litigation, with a case filed as Suit No. FHC/L/CS/1063/25 before Justice Akintayo Aluko at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The investors emphasized that no trial has begun and no judgment has been delivered, urging that the judicial process be allowed to operate independently.

Okengwu expressed their commitment to defending their investments and contributing to a transparent legal process. The investors plan to hold a press conference to present evidence and expert testimony to the public.

“The destruction of Winhomes Estate is not merely an opinion but a matter of legality and accountability. We will pursue justice relentlessly,” Okengwu stated.
