The Benue office of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu Support Group 2027 has been demolished by officials from the Benue State Urban Development Board, alongside other nearby structures. Dr. Aker Kpev, the Director-General of the support group, reported that the demolition took place without prior notice, despite the office having been inaugurated just days earlier on October 31. The matter has since been escalated to relevant authorities for investigation.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the demolition impacted the perimeter fence and gate of the group’s building.
In response, the Benue State Government clarified that the demolitions are part of an ongoing road dualization project along the Wurukum–Yaikyor–Apir–Ikpayongo axis of Makurdi. Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Tersoo Kula, stated that the demolitions were not aimed at any specific group but were necessary for the expansion of the Makurdi–Enugu Road.
Kula explained that a thorough assessment of all affected structures had been conducted and that owners of legitimate buildings with approved documentation had been compensated. Properties that lacked approval or were built on government right-of-way were marked for removal.
He cautioned against politicizing the situation, describing attempts to repaint or mount political symbols on the demolished buildings to gain sympathy as “mischievous and deceitful.”
“The ongoing demolitions are not acts of victimization but necessary steps toward modernization and infrastructural renewal,” Kula said. He urged residents to view the project as a significant advancement in transportation and infrastructure throughout Benue State and beyond.
