On November 19, 2025, the Kuchibedna community, near Gwarinpa Estate in the Kafe District of Abuja, was demolished by an Abuja developer, Winning Clause Nigeria Limited, following a lengthy legal battle. The demolition was carried out to enforce a Court of Appeal judgment that allowed Winning Clause Nigeria Limited to reclaim possession of Plot 67, Cadastral Zone C05.

Marx Ikongbeh, the legal representative for Winning Clause, stated that the demolition was not an act of aggression but the enforcement of multiple binding court judgments. He added that the court had issued an order for the FCT Minister to give them vacant possession, which had been defied for years.

The dispute dates back to 2011 when Winning Clause received the original land allocation. Ikongbeh claimed that despite several compensations to the community, residents did not vacate the land and complicated the situation by selling plots to non-indigenes. He recalled that a judge had previously ruled that they were trespassers. The community’s legal efforts crumbled through successive court rulings that affirmed the legality of the developer’s claims.

The enforcement action was backed by a Court of Appeal order issued earlier in the year, along with a Warrant of Possession. Ikongbeh emphasized that the enforcement aimed to restore order and end security threats, highlighting the community’s status as a breeding ground for crime.
