The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has officially inaugurated new members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the bank’s headquarters in Abuja on November 19, 2025. This event represents a significant step in FMBN’s ongoing efforts to promote accountability and integrity within its operations.

Managing Director/CEO Shehu Usman Osidi addressed the new members, highlighting the importance of their roles. He stated, “Your selection is a call to serve and uphold the highest standards of ethics as we work together to sustain the culture of accountability and transparency we are building across FMBN.”

Osidi reiterated the management’s commitment to supporting ACTU, emphasizing its crucial function in reinforcing internal systems, particularly in procurement, customer service, credit administration, and financial reporting. He encouraged the new members to build upon the foundation laid by their predecessors, focusing on staff sensitization and fostering open engagement with management.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), represented by Dr. Olusegun Adigun, commended FMBN for its support of ACTU. He acknowledged the unit’s vital role in enhancing reliable and affordable mortgage access. “ACTU complements management by identifying systemic weaknesses, strengthening ethical conduct, and promoting transparency,” he noted.

The key responsibilities of ACTU include conducting sensitization programs, performing corruption risk assessments, reviewing systems, and carrying out investigations. The inauguration ceremony also featured the administration of oaths to the new members and the presentation of the Unit’s Standing Order.
