The Rivers State Government has revoked occupancy rights and proposed the acquisition of approximately 65,758 square meters of land at Igwuruta to establish a waste disposal and recycling facility, citing overriding public interest. This move is part of the REWAMA project aimed at improving waste management in the state.

A formal notice published in accordance with the Land Use Act has been issued to stakeholders, requiring them to surrender their rights to the land. The notice includes details about the boundaries and coordinates of the affected area, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.

This initiative is expected to enhance environmental management and public health in Rivers State.
