FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has revoked the contract for the 13-kilometer Apo-Karshi Road, initially awarded to Kakatar Construction Company Ltd. in 2011. Wike cited the contractor’s non-performance as the reason for the termination.
During an inspection of ongoing road projects in Abuja, Wike announced that the contract has been re-awarded to SCC under an emergency arrangement. He emphasized that road contracts should prioritize public welfare over political considerations.
Wike also addressed the demolition of a shop obstructing a water channel along the Karu-Customs-CBN Road, assuring compensation while stressing the importance of public interest. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of other projects and affirmed the FCTA’s commitment to completing ongoing projects by 2026, with no new contracts planned for that year.
