During a press briefing in Umuahia, Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu emphasized the importance of landlords conducting thorough background checks on potential tenants. He criticized the tendency of some property owners to prioritize rent collection over the security implications of their leasing decisions. “The state government will not hesitate to demolish any house used for kidnapping,” Kanu warned, urging landlords to maintain accurate records of their tenants and to be vigilant against any suspicious activities.
This operation follows a recent police crackdown that resulted in the neutralization of six suspected kidnappers, the rescue of four victims, and the recovery of significant weapons, including two AK-47 rifles and live ammunition.
