AEC Unity Network Limited has clarified that it has no relationship with AEC-Geofocus Consortium or its representatives concerning the planned Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects. The company reaffirmed its position as the officially recognized concessionaire for these projects, describing recent claims in the media as “misleading.”

The controversy arose when an engineer named Yinka Idris, reportedly the Director of Operations at AEC-Geofocus, claimed the Federal Government would commence the Lagos-Abuja projects tentatively by February 2025, with an estimated cost of $16 billion. He mentioned that the project would span 500 kilometers, connecting Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, under a design, build, finance, operate, and maintain model.

However, AEC Unity Network issued a statement refuting these claims, asserting that they are the sole concessionaire authorized by the Federal Government for the design, finance, construction, operation, and maintenance of the 470-kilometer superhighway and high-speed rail linking Abuja and Lagos.

In a statement signed by the company’s legal consultant, Ayodeji Ademola, AEC Unity Network emphasized its commitment to transparency and warned that some individuals were engaging in deceptive practices to gain recognition for projects they were not involved in.

“We categorically state that AEC Unity Network Limited has no relationship whatsoever with Engineer Mutiu Yinka Idris, Prince Fisayo, or Geofocus,” the statement read, urging the public, especially local and foreign investors, to disregard contrary claims.

The firm highlighted that its projects are still in the planning stages and that no concurrent developments have been authorized on the Abuja-Lagos corridor. They described the misleading claims as attempts to confuse and defraud stakeholders.

The Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects are part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at advancing national infrastructure and economic development.
