The Africa Housing Awards and Dinner is a grand celebration of the housing industry’s 12-month journey. On Sunday, December 17, 2023, the Africa Housing Award held its yearly industry end-of-year Awards and Dinner. The Attendees included prominent personalities in the housing sector.

in attendance was Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. who delivered a message of goodwill and commended the organizers for putting on such a distinguished occasion.
He also admonished African building sector stakeholders s to never lose sight of their duty to guarantee that the public has access to housing, which is a basic requirement. According to him, we need to be continually reminded that millions of people, regardless of economic level, are in need of housing. We also need to be mindful that the decisions we make might have either a positive or negative impact on individuals who depend on us for housing solutions.

On his part he stated , ”We are also establishing the framework for the creation of a National Social Housing Fund (NSHF), in accordance with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to guarantee that all Nigerians, including the NO INCOME, vulnerable, and underprivileged groups, have access to decent and dignified housing. This is due to our conviction that all Nigerians, regardless of socioeconomic status, are entitled to a good place to live and develop, and that access to adequate housing is both a human right and a need. that everyone on the continent has access to affordable homes. We are also striving to put into effect the urgently required changes that will guarantee prompt, simple, and effective access to land. To achieve buy-in and inclusivity, we have assembled a land reforms team made up of state governments, traditional rulers, relevant agencies, professional groups, academics, and stakeholders, he added.

Manufacturing of building materials is one of our top priorities in the nation. This will guarantee economic expansion, provide employment, and lessen reliance on imports. We have put up a Building Materials Manufacturing Task Team with experts and representatives from industry associations, professional bodies, government agencies, and academics in order to guarantee success. They will carry out an extensive evaluation of the building materials manufacturing industry’s current situation and develop a reform strategy that can be put into action. Six (6) production hubs for building materials are to be constructed, one in each of the nation’s six (6) geopolitical zones.

He stated that, in order to augment the inventory of housing supplies, we have further assembled a Multi-Agency Project Delivery Team. The team will ensure that various housing organisations, such as FMBN, FHA, and the Family Homes Fund, collaborate to maximise their respective strengths in order to expand the supply of high-quality homes available to Nigerians. The team is made up of extremely skilled and knowledgeable individuals with knowledge in project management, financing, infrastructure, urban planning, and how development.


He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the winners and institutions and advised them to continue their excellent job.

Mr. Dangiwa stated that, the annual dedication to celebrating all notable figures in the housing industry demonstrates the sector’s commitment to growing and promoting the spirit of excellence in the industry 
He asserted that , the acknowledgment should motivate stakeholders to put forth more effort to alleviate the housing deficit plaguing the African continent.
