African Reinsurance Corporation begins construction of its head office in Abuja

African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) has begun to build its head office in Abuja, Viewpoint Housing News reports.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello who laid the foundation stone at a ceremony on Thursday said that Nigeria holds African countries on the board of Africa Re in high esteem, which was why government allocated land to the organization with an adjourning plot for the African Nexim Bank.

Bello expressed hope that the envisaged beautiful head office of Africa Re would be commissioned in the next 24 months, and will enhance the skyline and aesthetic value of the FCT.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Board of Directors of the organization, Mr. Hassan Boubrik, commended the FCT Minister for all the support accorded Africa Re that culminated in the foundation stone laying ceremony.

He assured the minister that the head office would be built in accordance with best standards and energy saving practice, adding that the building design complies with FCTA plans on traffic management in the Federal Capital City (FCC).

In his welcome address, the Managing Director of Africa Re, Mr Corneille Karekezi said the event was a milestone in the relationship between Africa Re and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, assuring that the Nigeria office of Africa Re would be the best in standard and hospitality. 

Present at the foundation laying ceremony the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Clement Agba. The building is expected to cost $35 million.
