Approval period for building design now 3 months – Galadima

The director, department of development control, in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Tpl Mukhtar Usman Galadima, has disclosed that the approval period for any building design, submitted to the department is now three months.

Galadima acknowledged that in the past, giving approval to building designs took longer period, but added that the process has been simplified to encourage development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“We have simplified the approval process for building designs, submitted to our office. We agree that in the past, it took longer period before getting approvals, but the period is now within three months and you will get your approvals. If you cannot get it within the period of three months, you can query us,” he said.
The director however advised developers in the territory to find out the status of their plots, by knowing the type of structures expected in a particular plot, before submitting their drawing designs to the department. Galadima also challenged architects, who feel that their drawing designs have been delayed to make necessary complaints to enable the department address it appropriately and deal with the bad eggs in the system.

He also reiterated his call on developers in the territory to always engage the services of real professionals, in building constructions, adding that any building without approval is subject to sanctions, including removal. LN
