Welcome to the last eight days of 2022, the previous days we all had together before these last few days have been memorable in the housing industry. Thought provoking seminars, events, lectures, including REDAN’s Lateef Jakande Annual Lectures, the Nigerian Housing Awards, the Africa Housing International Show (AHIS), the Two-Day National Workshop on Facilitating Affordable Housing for Medium and Low- income Earners held in Jos, the Plateau State capital, amongst others were some of the activities we witnessed in the housing sector.
All were aimed at finding more ways in accelerating the growth of the Nigerian housing industry, indeed, the African continent too.
One of the climax of housing activities in the country was the 2022 Affordable Housing Awards and Affordable Housing Hall of Fame. The annual event which was a reward for excellence and recognition of outstanding achievements of key stakeholders, firms and government housing establishments that have promoted the provision of affordable housing in the country, honoured housing key players.
Posthumous awards were also given to those who during their lifetime, made huge strides in positively impacting the provision of affordable housing for Nigerians, leaving indelible marks for the emulation of others, inspiring many in the built sector.
Viewpoint Housing Media also had the production of the current edition of its Magazine, a sister publication of Viewpoint Housing News, an online publication. The birth of Viewpoint Housing Magazine is a step forward in the drive for better and affordable housing and growth of the Nigerian economy. In line with one of its mission of contributing to the provision of decent, affordable housing for Nigerians, it also focuses on happenings in the housing sector and related activities.
Decent accommodation for the general public entails making housing affordable. However, due to the high cost of housing production in Nigeria, many can hardly afford decent dwelling places. This has resulted to sprawling slums in cities across the country. A healthy population must be well housed.
Viewpoint Housing News is therefore, one of the tools for decent housing advocacy in Nigeria. It interrogates the government’s policies and actions in housing as it evaluates happenings in the housing sector at different levels of government.
The organization works for all stakeholders in the housing sector in the journey for affordable housing and disseminates views that bring positive change in the sector.
If you are an actor in real estate and passionate about affordable housing in Nigeria, Viewpoint Housing Media (online and print) is a tool for you in advancing your endeavors and exploring your technical-know-how in the housing industry. We are one of the core partners you need to be a good player in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
