A pipeline explosion occurred at Ijegun, in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State in the early hours of Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there were two unidentified bodies.
Many vehicles and shops have been razed by the fire.
A resident said they woke up to a loud sound and billows of smoke in the air.
“It happened around 3:00am. Someone called me that I should be on alert that vandals were siphoning fuel.
“Few minutes after the call, I heard a loud sound. We all rushed out of our houses,” he explained.
Several persons were said to have been injured.
Police have cordoned off the area.
Viewpoint Housing News gathered that the fire spread from Ijegun to Ikotun to Ijagemo areas creating panic in residents.
Fire fighters were putting out the fire.
