The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) said it is taking measures to eradicate quackery from the building industry in the country.

Speaking at the 16th induction of 96 new builders in Abuja recently, the chairman of the council, Prof Kabir Bala said the move would be achieved through the issuance of licenses and certification to qualified individuals.

He said the council would also embark on monitoring and evaluation of projects to enable the prosecution of defaulters.

Prof Bala said the council was established to regulate the building profession by implementing standard of education and practice in all aspects, as provided for in the Builders Registration Act.

He urged the new inductees and builders in general to take advantage of the Presidential Executive Order (PEO) 5.

He also commended President Muhummadu Buhari’s timely intervention in ensuring that indigenous professionals were recognized.

Registrar of the council, Peter Kuroshi said the council had added more builders to the country, who work with other professionals. DT
