The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts at the Okunde Bluewater Scheme along Lekki Coastal Road. The recent operation, led by Commissioner Ekundayo Alebiosu from the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, focused on removing illegal occupants and dismantling shanties in the area.
Alebiosu emphasized that this operation is part of a broader initiative to deter unauthorized construction on government-owned land. He stated that any attempts to rebuild shanties or makeshift structures will be met with swift enforcement. These structures pose environmental hazards and security risks, contradicting the Lagos State Mega City Master Plan.
The commissioner reiterated the state’s dedication to reclaiming and developing the area into a world-class Bluewater Scheme and a coastal road network that will benefit residents. He assured that ongoing monitoring and enforcement would help preserve the cleared site, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to securing and transforming all government-owned waterfronts across Lagos State.
