On the role of the citizenry in erosion prevention, the Minister emphasised the need to continue public awareness on waste management, afforestation, and reduction in green gas emission.

According to her, “we need to educate our people because a percentage of environmental challenges faced today are man-made. Don’t blame nature.”

In a remark, deputy governor, Dr. Okeke explained that the state is ready to partner with the federal government because Anambra is heavily affected by gully erosion.

He commended the efforts of the federal government through NEWMAP World Bank assisted projects in the state, stressing that soon the Minister would embark on-the-spot assessment of erosion sites.
