The Delta State Government has announced plans to shut down all unapproved nursery and primary schools across the state as part of efforts to “sanitise the private sector participation in the primary education sector.”
This decision was communicated in a special announcement signed by Theresa Adiabua Oliko, the Director of Public Communication in the State Ministry of Information. School owners have been given a 21-day ultimatum to upgrade their facilities and formalize their status with the Ministry of Primary Education.
The announcement stated: “Failure to comply with this directive will attract severe sanctions, including outright closure of all such schools.” The move comes in response to the proliferation of unapproved schools, which pose concerns due to poor infrastructure, unqualified teachers, and unhealthy learning environments.
The Delta State Government is committed to enhancing educational standards and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students.
