Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the completion of remedial work on the Benin-Iruekpen federal road, significantly improving travel conditions for motorists. The announcement was made through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Wednesday.

During a recent tour of the expressway, which runs from Aduwawa through various junctions to other areas, Governor Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the contractor’s efforts. He acknowledged the importance of federal roads to Edo residents and reiterated his commitment to working with the federal government to enhance road infrastructure throughout the state.

Okpebholo highlighted the dangerous conditions that previously plagued the road, noting that it had become nearly impassable and was the site of numerous accidents. “For me, working for my people is the only thing that can give Edo people happiness and joy,” he stated, emphasizing the positive impact of the newly completed roadwork, which has reduced travel time drastically—from four hours to just 45 minutes.

Aligning his administration’s efforts with the federal government’s vision, the governor said, “With this road, prices of products will go down, as the good road will reduce travelling time and positively affect the cost of transporting goods and services.”

In addition to the Benin-Iruekpen Expressway, Okpebholo inspected several other road projects, including the Ekiuwa University of Benin Road and various local roads. He also reviewed a drainage project aimed at mitigating flooding in the area.

The governor’s proactive approach to infrastructure development reflects his dedication to improving the living conditions of Edo residents and fulfilling the promises made during his campaign. He concluded, “I want Edo people to know that their votes were worth it, and the only way to pay them back is to work for them and ensure their lives get better.”
