Emergency Officials Put Off Fire, As Rescue Operations Ongoing At WAEC Building

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) building in Yaba area of Lagos State, was seen on fire in the early hours of Wednesday, causing pandemonium among residents and those trapped inside the building.

According to the Nigerian Vanguard, the fire began at about 6.50 am. It said the cause of the fire is yet to be figured. It also revealed that the fire had broken out at the middle of the high-rise building as those trapped in the building were seen frantically calling for help.

It was gathered that men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency officials are presently at the scene to put out the fire.

Reports later emerged that the fire at the WAEC building has been put off, while rescue operations were ongoing.
