Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has maintained that the administration will no longer extend the deadline for property owners owing ground rent and other statutory fees in Abuja.

Speaking during a tour of ongoing projects by Julius Berger and Leventis, Wike said the notice to defaulters expires this week, stressing that residents must meet their tax obligations to sustain the FCT’s development. Properties whose owners fail to comply risk being sealed.

Wike also clarified that current infrastructure projects are funded strictly from the FCT’s 2025 budget, not the national budget, though federal releases are expected later in the year.

He commended the progress on the N5 corridor and the Central Area–Wuse link road, with both contractors assuring delivery by early 2025.

On the slow activation of new bus terminals, Wike said procurement processes were ongoing and would be concluded soon.

The Minister reaffirmed that the administration is on track with its development agenda but insisted that “residents must fulfil their obligations if they expect continued service delivery.
