February 6, 2025 – Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has received significant recognition from the civic group United Advocates for Good Governance and Leadership for his extensive road infrastructure initiatives since taking office in 2023.

Advocate Israel T. Ebiama, the national coordinator of the group, commended Wike for his unwavering commitment to enhancing the road network in Abuja, which has dramatically improved connectivity and accessibility across the capital city.

Since his appointment, Wike has initiated and completed multiple road projects, including significant upgrades in key areas such as Kuje, Bwari, Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada. Noteworthy projects include the Asokoro to Apo Expressway, the Next Cash and Carry Road linking Jahi to Katampe, and the Saburi to Dei Dei Road. The minister has also overseen the construction of essential bus stations in Kugbo, Mabushi, and the Central Area District (CAD).

In addition, the Apo to Karshi road expansion and the Life Camp Junction to Kubwa Expressway are among the critical developments aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving commuter experiences.

The group also pointed out road lighting projects along major corridors such as Independence Avenue and the route from the National Christian Centre to Living Faith Area One Expressway. These enhancements are expected to significantly improve safety for drivers and pedestrians alike.

Ebiama further noted ongoing work on the FCT Light Rail System, which aims to bolster public transportation options within the capital. Other major projects include:

  • 25km Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali Area Council
  • Rehabilitation of the Old Ushafa-LUD Road

The national coordinator expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Wike to oversee the FCT, emphasizing that his leadership has led to significant infrastructural advancements.

Ebiama stated, “We commend President Tinubu for providing Minister Wike with the platform to demonstrate his capabilities in infrastructure development within the FCT. We encourage him to continue this vital work, and we stand fully behind him and the Renewed Hope Government.”

This recognition reflects the positive changes in Abuja’s infrastructure landscape under Wike’s administration and highlights the collective effort needed to further enhance the region’s development.
