The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has highlighted the significance of three major bus terminal projects currently under construction in Abuja, describing them as critical infrastructure aimed at overhauling the capital’s transportation system.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing bus terminal developments in Mabushi and Kugbo, as well as a new access road to the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu, Wike commended the contractors for their quality of work and affirmed the government’s commitment to completing the projects within the stipulated timeline.
The bus terminals, which are being constructed in Mabushi, Central Area, and Kugbo, were approved in 2024 under Wike’s leadership of the FCT Administration. The minister said the terminals are part of broader reforms to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, and eliminate the menace of “one chance” criminals—bandits who pose as drivers to rob passengers.
Wike emphasized that the terminals will serve as secure and organized hubs where commuters can board buses and taxis, helping to clear roads of indiscriminate parking and makeshift transport stops.
