The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) has removed some illegal roadside motor parks and makeshift structures, as well as markets in Jabi and Maitama districts.
The team also cleared some illegal structures around Millennium Park, Maitama, which hitherto served as arts and other trading activities. The affected occupants of the illegal structures were however allowed to remove their wares, before AMMC officers and bulldozer pulled down the structures.
Speaking after the exercise, AMMC coordinator, Umar said the council’s programme of sanitizing Abuja is on, adding that it wants to make sure that sanity is restored on the streets. Shuaibu noted that the affected traders in Jabi had created an illegal motorpark along the axis, thereby obstructing our facilities such as pipe water, drainage and sewage system along the path.
