The Federal Capital Administration says it may begin to take action against defiant landowners for tampering with land revoked by an order of the Min. Nyesom Woke. Mukatar Galadima, the Director of Development Control gave the hint after officials of the department stopped some owners from developing their land in spite of the revocation order by the FCTA two weeks ago. The Development Control Officials were accompanied by some security agents, confiscated building equipment found on the sites and arrested few works and chased away works. The FCT minister had ordered the revoking of about 165 plots of land in a document signed by the FCTA Permanent Secretary on September 21,2023. According to report we received, the plots were revoked due to contraventions of the terms of development of the Rights of Occupancy as contained in Section 28 (5) and (b) of the land Use Act. Galadima disclosed while speaking with viewpoint, that development control acted on information that few landowners had returned to continue working on their sites, warning that those who defaulted may be prosecuted by FCT. Galadima said that the operation would ensure that all revoked plots, nobody goes back to his sites to work and he also used the opportunity to call on the public that any revoked land that somebody should not try to work on. Definitely the administration will not only remove such structures but will also ensure prosecution of the person involved. They just commenced few weeks ago and then we just got information some people have resumed to sites to work, we have given the March order to our officials to be on the watch out to make sure nobody goes back to site. Any of our staff found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the laid down civil service rules and regulations,” Galadima warned.
