The Federal Government’s housing project in Delta, comprising 68 housing units will be completed by April, 2019, an official has said.
Mr Tete Inameti, Controller of Lands and Housing, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in Delta disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba on Tuesday.
He said that the Federal Government’s housing project started in May 2017 in Issele-Azagba along Benin-Asaba Expressway, had 68 housing units.
Inameti said on completion this will provide accommodation for 68 households in the state.
He stated that after the completion of the first phase of 68 units, the ministry will undertake a second phase of another 68 units in the state.
The controller explained that the second phase will comprise 14 blocks of two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows amounting to 28 units.
‘‘We also have eight blocks of two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, which is 16 units.
‘‘We have one block of three-storey building of 24 mixed units comprising four units of one-bedroom, 16 units of two-bedroom and four units of three-bedroom.
‘‘This project will be delivered for the people of Delta in April 2019 and on completion, government will replicate this housing project in phase II,’’ he added.
Inameti who gave the assurance that the project was receiving federal government’s attention, added that work on roads, drainage, water borehole, treatment plant, recreation, commercial areas, police post, clinics among other had been completed.
He commended the Delta Government for donating land to the federal government for the project.
The controller remarked that strengthening the collaboration between the state and the federal government would help to reduce the housing needs of Delta people. NAN
