Abuja – April 29, 2024 – Viewpoint Housing News.

In an effort to increase economic diversification, President Bola Tinubu has approved the design of the Sokoto-Badagry highway project, according to Minister of Works Senator David Umahi. He has also guaranteed that the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project will be built during his two terms in office.

The minister stated this on Sunday while inspecting the federal government’s gazetted right-of-way in Lagos and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
He stated that by building road projects that will enhance economic corridors for company expansion, the government is dedicated to enhancing the nation’s economic diversity.

Umahi clarified that the 1,000-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry route was planned and approved by the Tinubu administration as an integral part of the Renewed Hope programme.
He said, “We’re working on another road project that will link Enugu and Cameroun.”

As part of his legacy initiatives, he said that the federal government was dedicated to constructing coastline highways in the nation’s major geopolitical regions as well as the South-West, South-South, North-West, and North Central regions.
Umahi added that the highway and coastline projects will boost GDP and have a direct effect on the economy by attracting foreign investors, enhancing ROI, and luring multinational corporations to the nation’s economic centre.

He issued a warning, saying that anyone who ventured onto federal property will face consequences as the federal government intends to  reclaim the shorelines and areas along its gazetted right-of-way.
