The Federal Government is scheduled to commence construction of the Cross River section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on April 14. This section, referred to as Section B3 of the coastal highway project, was announced by the Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, during a stakeholders’ engagement in Lagos on Sunday.
Umahi stated, “We will be going to Cross River on the 14th to flag off construction. On the 15th, we will also proceed to Akwa Ibom to initiate work there.”
He highlighted that the 65-kilometer stretch in Cross River represents the most challenging terrain of the project, making the total distance 130 kilometers.
Regarding another major project, the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, Umahi noted that one section in Sokoto spans 120 kilometers. He mentioned that the third section starting from Badagry faces challenges due to three kilometers of rivers that need to be crossed, which will require significant funding.
