The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially received a housing estate with 753 units that was previously owned by former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handed over the property at a ceremony in Abuja.
Minister Ahmed Dangiwa praised the EFCC for its commitment to asset recovery, emphasizing that this milestone reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring recovered assets benefit the Nigerian people. The ministry plans to conduct thorough assessments of the estate to confirm its safety for habitation.
Following the evaluation, the units will be offered for sale to the public through a transparent process, including advertisements and submissions via the Renewed Hope Portal.
EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede highlighted the importance of this handover in showcasing the government’s resolve to combat corruption and ensure accountability in the management of recovered assets.
