A devastating fire broke out at the Minna Gwari Market in Niger State on Monday, destroying goods worth millions of naira. The blaze began in the scrap dealers’ section of the market before rapidly spreading to other areas.

Witnesses reported that it took several hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control, primarily due to limited access roads within the market, complicating efforts to respond to the emergency.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed his sympathy for the affected traders in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim. The governor’s office is expected to assess the situation and provide support to those impacted by the disaster.
