A fire outbreak on Wednesday night gutted Samlove Hotel in Okitipupa, Ondo State, destroying property valued in millions of naira.
The blaze, which reportedly started around 9:00 p.m., was caused by an electrical spark and began in the hotel’s bar section, according to a hotel staff member who spoke anonymously. Fortunately, the main building of the hotel was spared.
Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident and said there were no casualties. He also disclosed that police have opened an investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire.
Guests and staff were credited with preventing the fire from spreading further, as they worked together to contain the flames.
The incident comes shortly after a major fire destroyed goods worth millions at Okitipupa’s Caring Heart Market.
