A fire outbreak in the Sawmill Abaletu area on Saki Road, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, has resulted in significant property damage, impacting shops worth millions of naira.
According to Maroof Akinwande, the state chairman of the fire service, three shops were affected by the blaze. He confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident.
The fire was reported at 3:54 AM on June 23, 2025. Firefighters, led by ACFS Azeez, promptly responded and found three shops engulfed in flames.
Akinwande stated, “The firemen acted quickly and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other shops. Only three shops were damaged, and we successfully saved the remaining seven and nearby properties.”
The cause of the fire was attributed to the negligence of a phone repair technician who left equipment plugged in after closing, igniting nearby combustible materials.
