The popular Mandilas building on Broad Street, Lagos Island Local Government Area, Lagos State, has been damaged by fire destroying goods valued at millions of naira.
According to reports, the 10-story building’s four levels were completely destroyed by the fire, which broke out on Sunday at approximately 1pm, destroying items valued at millions of naira.

In a statement on Sunday, Margaret Adeseye, the director of the Lagos State incident and Rescue Service, stated that the cause of the incident was still unknown.
The fire was said to have started from the first floor of the building and escalated to the fourth floor before the arrival of emergency responders.
Meanwhile, men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, upon arrival at the scene of the fire, were able to curtail further spread of the fire.
In reaction to the incident, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu called for calm among the people of the state and revealed that an inquiry was underway to determine the source of the fire.
“I would like to share an update on the warehouse fire at the Mandilas Building, Broad Street, Lagos Island, as reported by our personnel on the ground. Starting on the first story, the fire spread to the fourth. Our courageous personnel from the Sari Iganmu and Ebute Elefun Fire Stations are now combating fires.
“Investigations are in progress, but the cause is yet unknown. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties. As all of our first responders are working extremely hard to bring the crisis to a total end, I would like to ask everyone to maintain their composure,” tweeted Sanwoolu.
