A portion of the Dunukofia Local Government Area office building in Ukpo, Anambra State, has been destroyed by fire.
It was reported that bush burning near the local government building was the cause of the late-Wednesday fire outbreak.
Two distinct fire breakouts were also reported at the Sinai Gas Plant in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, and at the Timber Market in Nnewi.
The Anambra State Fire Service personnel intervened to contain the fire, which broke out at various times on Tuesday and burned for hours.
The incident at the LG secretariat on Wednesday was verified by Martin Agbili, the fire chief for Anambra State, who stated that it began at 6:53 p.m.
According to Agbili, the Anambra State Fire Service got a distress call reporting an enormous fire breakout at Dunukofia at about 18:53 hours (6.53 pm) on Wednesday. We responded to the fire site right away, sending our fire engine and brave firefighters to battle, contain, and put out the fire.Unknown person(s) lit a bush fire that spread into the local government council headquarters, which is what caused the fire.
“We were able to contain and put out the fire during the firefighting operations and save it from burning a lot of stuff at the local government council.
After bringing the fire to a halt and settling the situation, we left the area at around 20:30 hours.
In order to prevent “had I known,” it is also crucial that we remove all bushes from our surroundings, particularly during this dry season and harmattan. Although fire kills, it may be avoided, he added.
