A one-storey building in the Alapere area of Lagos State was engulfed in flames on March 23, 2025. The fire originated from the upper floor of the building, which consists of four self-contained apartments, and was triggered by an electrical power surge in one of the kitchens.
The incident occurred at 16B Agidi Road, Osogun Bus Stop, and quickly spread to other parts of the upper floor, causing significant damage. Fortunately, the ground floor remained unaffected, and no casualties or fatalities were reported.
Upon receiving distress calls at approximately 8:55 a.m., the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans (SERP) from the Command and Control Centre in Ikeja. The LASEMA Response Team, alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), successfully contained and extinguished the fire, ensuring the safety of the residents and conducting search operations to confirm that no individuals were trapped.
While the affected apartments suffered considerable structural and material losses, the prompt response from emergency services prevented further escalation of the incident.
