The Anambra State Fire Service is currently responding to a fire outbreak at Ifejika Street, near Sokoto Road, Onitsha. The fire reportedly began around 6:20 AM and has since spread to a nearby building.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, residents and passersby, along with fire service personnel, have been seen making efforts to salvage property from the affected buildings.
Chukwudi Chiketa, head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and assured the public that firefighters were on-site and working to control the situation.
He advised residents to remain calm as the fire service teams continue their intervention. The public is encouraged to stay clear of the area to allow for effective emergency response.
