According to the Kano State Fire Service, a fire on the Lawan Dambazau road beside the rail line in Kano Municipality destroyed eight makeshift shades and eight cars.

Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, a spokesman for the agency, informed NAN that the fire started on Tuesday around 02:15 a.m.
Around 02:15 in the morning, patrol and guard from the Kwalli Police Division called to report that there was a fire on Lawan Dambazau Road.

We quickly mobilised our personnel to the scene at 02:19 a.m., and put out the fire so as not to spread to other shades,” he said.

Abdullahi said the place was an uncompleted building of about 300 by 150ft, where carpentry work and car repairs were being done.
He said eight shades with carpentry equipment and eight cars were razed by the fire while one shade and one car were slightly burnt.

He said no life was lost and the cause of the fire was an electrical spark from the carpenter’s shade.
