Fire has razed a warehouse belonging to Allied Computers, a computer service and accessories firm situated at the Anthony area of Lagos.

The cause of the fire, which began Tuesday afternoon is yet to be ascertained but a guard on the premises said he saw smoke coming out of the warehouse which is situated on the ground floor of a three-storey building.

The guard said the Lagos State Fire and Emergency Services were called immediately.

However, upon arrival, the firefighters were unable to access the building as the billowing smoke affected visibility of the building.

The firefighters, who arrived without face shields called for back-up from the federal fire service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Service who arrived hours later and began to put out the fire which had already covered the entire building.

A staff of a law firm situated on the third floor of the building said the damage could have been minimal if the first responders had reacted immediately they arrived.

“They only came to look,” the staff told PREMIUM TIMES.

“When they came, the fire was still localised at the back where the warehouse is; but now the fire has got to all parts of the building.”

A staff of Ago Kasumu and Co, a law firm in the building, said she was unable to pick anything as she ran out when the fire alarm was raised.

Adexen, First Call Institute, and Ayo Kasumu and Co law firm occupy the third floor of the building while Allied Computers, belonging to the owner of the building (identified as Mr Balogun) occupied the rest of the building. PT
