First Bank of Nigeria, the country’s oldest bank, is set to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for its new green-certified head office building at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos. This 40-storey structure is designed to be the tallest building in Nigeria and aims to set new standards for eco-friendly and technologically advanced construction in Africa’s financial sector.

Olayinka Ijabiyi, the Acting Group Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at First Bank, stated that the ceremony marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the bank, underscoring its commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. The new headquarters will focus on sustainability, featuring a design that minimizes operational costs and positions First Bank as a leader in sustainable banking practices.

CEO Olusegun Alebiosu described the groundbreaking as a significant milestone in the bank’s pursuit of excellence. He emphasized that the new head office will not only represent First Bank’s dedication to innovation but also contribute to economic growth and development throughout Africa.

Femi Otedola, Chairman of FirstHoldCo, highlighted the collaborative efforts required to bring the ambitious project to fruition, expressing gratitude for the support from customers and stakeholders.

The event is expected to attract notable figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, senators, state governors, federal ministers, and industry leaders, marking a significant moment for First Bank and the Nigerian banking sector.
