Heavy downpour on Tuesday evening wreaked havoc on a community in Osun State and sacked many residents from their homes.
Consequent upon the downpour, flood ejected residents of Ifedapo, in Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government from their homes.
Daily Trust gathered that the flood rendered more than 100 residents homeless, killed livestock, washed away farms and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
It was also learnt that loss of lives was averted by the efforts of some courageous men who saved many children and women from drowning.
A resident in the Ifedapo community, Mr Adedayo Kolawole, whose house was affected by the incident, attributed the flooding to lack of drainage at Aje Market, an international commercial centre owned by the Osun State government.
Urging the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency to come to the rescue of victims of the flood, Kolawole said, “Heavy flood ran down from the hills and caused heavy damage to the houses at the lower plains. This area is prone to flooding because of lack of drainage around the Aje International Market owned by the state government. We complained to the state government but nothing was done.” Daily Trust
