Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has flagged off the construction of a new state civil service secretariat complex, valued at N68.58 billion. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in Gombe on Tuesday.
The governor explained that the current secretariat, built nearly three decades ago, had become inadequate for the demands of modern governance. He said the new facility aligns with his administration’s commitment to infrastructural transformation.
“This complex is more than just an office building. It is a hub designed to boost coordination, reduce overhead costs, and raise productivity and morale among civil servants,” Yahaya stated.
The complex will comprise a Head of Service block and four other blocks, each accommodating four ministries. The project also includes the remodelling of existing facilities and provision of essential infrastructure.
Yahaya disclosed that the project is expected to be completed in 102 weeks. Once concluded, alongside the ongoing State House of Assembly and High Court buildings, it will mark the completion of the administration’s vision for a Three-Arms Zone.
The governor urged contractors to maintain high standards and deliver within the stipulated timeline.
The ceremony also formed part of activities marking Yahaya’s sixth year in office. He used the occasion to inspect other key projects, including the Mega College, the Mechanic Village, and the Gombe-Ashaka–FCE(T) Road.
