Abuja, March 9, 2025 – The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has issued a stern warning to contractors handling the government’s Renewed Hope housing projects, stating that substandard work will not be tolerated.
During an inspection of ongoing projects in Kano, Dangiwa emphasized that all housing developments must meet contractual standards to ensure durability. He warned that any structure failing to meet quality benchmarks would be demolished, with the contractor required to rebuild or risk contract termination.
“We will not tolerate any substandard work found on any Renewed Hope Project site anywhere in the country. We are committed to ensuring that the houses and infrastructure we build are of good quality,” he stated.
The minister also urged developers to adhere to project timelines, aiming for completion within two to three months. He highlighted the economic benefits of housing projects, including job creation for artisans, laborers, and suppliers.
Dangiwa revealed that seven Renewed Hope Cities are planned across geopolitical zones, with thousands of units under construction in Kano, Lagos, and Abuja. He directed federal controllers and ministry officials to monitor work closely, ensuring strict compliance with quality standards.
This move comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and improve living conditions for citizens.
