The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has earmarked N6.3 billion for road infrastructure in its 2025 budget, as part of a broader capital expenditure allocation of N83.75 billion.

This was revealed in the recent budget presented by President Bola Tinubu. The road infrastructure budget is a key part of the ministry’s focus on improving Nigeria’s housing and urban development sectors.

The capital expenditure also includes significant amounts for residential buildings (N23.84 billion), office buildings (N11.65 billion), and other crucial infrastructure projects, such as water facilities (N1.08 billion) and schools (N682 million). Additionally, N10.37 billion is set aside for the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing structures.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Musa Dangiwa, stressed the importance of addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit, which requires the construction of at least 550,000 units annually over the next decade.

He further emphasized the need for a larger budget allocation, highlighting recent discussions with the National Assembly about a proposed N500 billion budget for 2025.

This budget marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure across the country and tackle long-standing housing challenges.
