Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the immediate sacking of the General Manager of Abia State Environmental Sanitation Agency, Mr Okechukwu Apugo, over poor sanitation in Umuahia.
According to a release signed by the State Commissioner For Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the Governor gave the directive while on project tour in the state.
The governor was passing through Ochendo bypass to commission the new Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, ASOPADEC, when he saw heaps of refuse along the road.
Ikpeazu thereafter, directed the Secretary to State Government, Barr Chris Ezem, to take over the sanitation matters in Umuahia with the immediate past Commissioner for Environment and now commissioner nominee, Dr Aham Uko assisting Punch
