Our distinguished resources persons, Kano urban planning and development management team, members of the staff here present, members of the press, distinguished ladies and gentlemen good morning.
It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to another capacity building workshop In line with the present administration policy of enhancing services delivery, since my assumption of office I took upon myself to periodically organize this type of workshop with the aim of enhancing effective and efficient service delivery to the good people of Kano state.
As we are all aware of law is crucial in urban planning and development, providing a frame work for sustainable development.
The Nigerian urban and regional planning act 1992 is the primary legal instrument guiding urban planning in Nigeria, established institutions like; the national urban and regional planning commission and state level planning board.
Today we have in our midst seasoned legal luminaries who will educate us on the legal aspect of our operations.

It is my hope that, at the end of this workshop we will be abreast and legally equipped we the knowledge and the technical know how on effective investigation and prosecution of violators of building plan approval as well as the emerging new trends.
At this juncture I will like to extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency The Executive Governor of Kano state Eng ABBA KABIR YUSUF for the confidence reposed in me to head this Authority.
