Following the recent building collapse last forth night in Lagos state, the Commissioner for the State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins said that the government is adopting a zero tolerance on building construction activities in the state.
This was revealed last Friday when housing and construction stakeholders converge to find solutions to the rising menace of building collapse in the state.
Organised by the Lagos Building and Control Agency, the meeting had in attendance architects, builders, surveyors, town planners, engineers and others.
The newly appointed Commissioner for the State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, said the ministry will start comprehensive reforms aiming to curb the spate of building collapse in the state.
He also called on developers to desist from unethical practices that fall below building construction standards.
“There has to be attitudinal change in order to stop the collapse of buildings, he said.
“This deployment is an assignment for me, he added, vowing to rid the state of building collapse.
Bamgbose further enumerated that any member of staff of the ministry found culpable of sabotaging efforts in maintaining high construction standards will be dealt with.
