The Lagos State Government has issued a 24-hour eviction notice to individuals illegally occupying the Oja Oba Underbridge at Adeniji Adele, where a section was discovered being used for livestock rearing.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the directive in a post on X.com, warning that failure to comply would lead to the removal of all illegal structures in the area. Wahab emphasized that such misuse of public infrastructure poses significant environmental and safety risks.
“During our clearance operation at Oja Oba Underbridge, Adeniji Adele, we discovered a section being used for livestock rearing. This misuse of public infrastructure poses environmental and safety risks. The occupants have been given 24 hours to vacate before we proceed with the removal of all illegal shanties,” he stated.
The eviction order is part of the government’s broader effort to reclaim public spaces and maintain urban order across the state. Authorities have ramped up enforcement in recent months, targeting unlawful settlements and businesses operating in unauthorized locations.
This move aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving sanitation and ensuring that public spaces serve their intended purposes. Residents have been urged to comply with urban regulations to avoid facing similar enforcement actions in the future.
