The Lagos State Government has called on property owners, particularly those with buildings along major roads, to give their structures a facelift in order to enhance the city’s visual appeal and support the government’s development agenda.

This appeal was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide. The statement, issued through the Director of Public Affairs in the ministry, Mukaila Sanusi, emphasized the importance of maintaining neat and attractive building facades in line with the state’s “Greater Lagos” vision.

Olumide urged property owners along key routes — including Ikorodu Road, Agege Motor Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, and Herbert Macaulay Way — to take the initiative and improve the external appearance of their buildings.

“We implore property owners, especially those on major highways, to take heed and undertake the much-needed facelift of their building facades,” he said. “Doing this will mean supporting the government in making the state a 21st-century economy, which is the vision of the government.”

The commissioner further encouraged regular upkeep, including repainting, repairing exterior finishes, and carrying out general enhancements to ensure that buildings along major roads reflect the standards of a modern and orderly city.

This move is part of broader efforts by the state government to modernize Lagos’ urban landscape and promote civic responsibility among residents and property developers.
