Abuja – February 7, 2024 – Viewpoint Housing News.

In an effort to enhance the quality of life for those living in the state’s 57 council areas, the Lagos State administration has started building 114 new roads.
According to engineer Rasheed Shabi, the representative for Lagos Mainland Constituency 2 in the State House of Assembly, this action satisfies campaign pledges made by Babajide Sanwo-olu to heavily spend in the building of rural roads.

Shabi disclosed plans by the government to begin the reconstruction of two roads in each of the councils, noting that the projects have been appropriated in the 2024 budget, while in the entourage of the Chairman of the Yaba Local Council Development Area, Dr. Kayode Omiyale, and the Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Moshood Oshun, for the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency. The discussion revolved around the issue of poor roads and drainage systems in the community.

He revealed that one of the roads included in the state government budget for Abule Oja is Abudu Street, which was later taken over by the Yaba council. He pledged to build a new street in Abule Oja in place of the proposed route. Residents of Mosuru Street objected to the temporary asphalt road that the council had installed last month because it lacked a drainage system.
Residents inquired that interlocking paving stones and a drainage system be used in the project since they were unhappy with the state of the previously repaired roadways. In order to reinvigorate the road network, Shabi begged landowners to put up with the difficulties that the road restoration will bring about, as homes that encroached on the setbacks would be demolished.

He also gave the community’s people the assurance that interlocking paved roads will be used for the road project. In Abule Oja, he said, the council had already selected three streets for rehabilitation and was collaborating to make sure the project would begin by 2024.
Omiyale gave the populace the assurance that their desires will be fulfilled by the government and counselled the Community Development Area (CDA) to collaborate with the council to enhance community facilities.
community leaders and landlords who raised concerns said they hoped that, the collaborative effort would result in an upgrade of the long-neglected infrastructure.
